Digital-G and U-Space

Much like the U.S. “Unmanned Traffic Management” initiative, U-space is a collaborative effort to enable situational awareness, data exchange, and digital communication for the drone ecosystem.

PACI operates a UTM service area consisting of almost 1200 square miles of Class G within the Eldorado and Piute Valleys. This is the largest privately-operated commercial test range in the world.

U-space is a set of new services and specific procedures designed to support safe, efficient and secure access to airspace for large numbers of drones. These services rely on a high level of digitization and automation of functions, whether they are on board the drone itself, or are part of the ground-based environment.

PACI’s “Digital-G” concept uses Voluntary Compliance with Flight Following through Technical Means provided by UAS Service Suppliers (USSs).  Our technical means (AeroPermit™ SaaS) supports the three foundation services of U-Space: electronic registration (e-registration), electronic identification (e-identification) and geofencing.

Our UAS Test Range uses the GeoNetwork SmartFence™ System, the first comprehensive global platform for the registry, delivery, and management of data-enhanced geofences. We can offer an ADS-B alternative requiring no network connection, no new hardware, and minimal power budget. This infrastructure has been field tested to demonstrate its functionality, reliability and range.
